On Saturday, June 20th, the Virginia Beach Anglers Club hosted another successful fishing trip with Seton Youth. Twenty-two young people and their mentors (ages 5 to 17) spent four hours fishing aboard the Nancy Anne at Dockside Fishing Center.
The kids were excited to join us again this year and eager to catch fish. With help from the mates on the Nancy Anne and three of our club members—Lou, Anthony, and JR—the group caught more than 50 fish. Many kids left the boat with big smiles and bags of fish for dinner!
Standout Fishermen
Most Fish Caught (9) – Jamir
Largest Fish (Roundhead) – Levi
Youngest Fisherwoman – Malani (5 years old)
After fishing, the kids and mentors enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Goodrich Gourmet at the Brock Center. We are grateful to the Brock Center for their continued partnership and support of our club and the community.
The children then participated in a raffle for great prizes including fishing poles, tackle boxes, crab sets, skateboards, and other outdoor items. This was at the request of Charlissa from Seton Youth, who asked that we focus on prizes encouraging kids to get outside and play. We were happy to oblige!
A special thank-you goes to Patty Searby, who donated a cornhole set to the Seton Youth Group Home for all the kids to enjoy.
We also want to thank the club members who volunteered their time: Patty Searby, John Stout, Tom Morgan, Bob Burnstein, and Mary Bradley. We couldn’t do these events without you!
